haha ahhh trust me if you read the begining and what he says and ive even talked to my teacher in honors lit about it. he is in fact writing to himself . i quote from the book first line first chapter "I am writing to you because she says you listen and understand and didnt try to seelp with that person at that party even though you could have. Please dont try to figure out who she is because then you might figure out who i am and i really dont want you to that." That happens to be the same thing that sam says to charlie therefore indicating him writing in third person or to himself. Although you will not realize that until reading the book thoughly or re-reading the book.
